A Genetic Algorithm for the Order Batching Problem in Low-Level Picker-to-Part Warehouse Systems
In this work we introduce a Genetic Algorithm (GA) for the Order Batching Problem considering traversal and return routing policies. The proposed GA has been tested on randomly generated instances and compared with the wellknown savings algorithm. According to our extensive computational experiments we can say that the proposed GA yields promising solutions in acceptable computation times.
متن کاملHigh-Level Modeling of Communications in Real-Time Embedded Systems
An embedded system continuously interacts with its environment under strict timing constraints. We model an embedded system using a generalized task graph (GTG). Nodes in a GTG represent individual tasks and edges represent communication between tasks. Tasks are usually concurrent and communicate among themselves to exchange data and perform the functionality of the system. In this paper, we mo...
متن کاملModeling Time Allocation to Leisure and Travel
This multidisciplinary study has investigated the impacts of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), as computers, telephones, or televisions, on leisure activities and leisure-related travel, developing and empirically validating the Time Allocation to Leisure and Travel (TALT) Model for analysis of personal time-budget, and for exploration of tradeoffs between personal-activity dema...
متن کاملPart-level Sequence Dependent Setup Time Reduction in CMS
This paper presents the idea of creating cells while reducing part-level sequence-dependent setup time in general cellular manufacturing systems (CMS). Setup time reduction in CMS has gained modest attention in the literature. This could be attributed to the fact that the fundamental problem in cell formation in CMS has been mainly related to material handling and machine utilization while setu...
متن کاملBatching orders in warehouses by minimizing travel distance with genetic algorithms
The power of warehousing system to rapidly respond to customer demands participates an important function in the success of supply chain. Before picking the customer orders, effectively consolidating orders into batches can significantly speed the product movement within a warehouse. There is considerable product movement within a warehouse; the warehousing costs can be reduced by even a small ...
